n the shadows of cosmopolitan Adelaide an unborn baby is sold. A tiny child’s sheer will to live is tested by the pain and suffering she is forced to endure.
Through the years, life is only bearable because of an opportunity to play the piano, which she excels at. Her love of music transports her from the oppression and cruelty inflicted by those who vowed to take care of her.
This story will leave you breathless, one woman’s fight for survival. Hope is instilled by the courage of one human being who triumphs over evil and refuses to be beaten.
Her ability to never give up and the strength to forge ahead to bring recognition for the suffering of those she loves.
“A heart-stopping story of warmth and wisdom. You won’t regret picking up this book. You may not be able to put it down.” Caroline Overington: The Australian.
“True life for many is challenging. Glyn’s life is both incomprehensible and inspirational. Her experiences as a crime victim are scary, to say the least. In her fight for justice, she makes sacrifices in order to ensure that others do not suffer as she has. Each page is her voice – in despair, in hope, in charity and in faith.
Michael O’Connell: State Commissioner for Victims Rights, South Australia.
About
As a 10 day old baby Glyn was placed in an orphanage. The suffering she endured as a child was severe. Glyn’s teenage and early adult years were lived in constant fear, with domestic violence and rape a daily occurrence.
By the age of 19 she had three children to care for. It was only the love for them that kept her going in these dark days. Throughout her battle to save and protect them, she was let down many times, by government departments, the general community and also the legal system.
Motivated by personal experiences Glyn embarked on a journey of intense training in many areas. These studies have enabled her to support, lend an ear and give a voice to many others affected by abuse.
Glyn's autobiography chronicles the difficult circumstances she lived through and the barriers she faced in her struggle to protect her children. During the process of writing her story, she found the courage to bring her perpetrators to justice.
Her case reached the High Court of Australia in 2012 and the decision set a precedent that changed the law not only nationally but internationally.
The Foundation
The Love, Hope & Gratitude Foundation is the culmination of Glyn's determination and compassion for victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse and homelessness. The foundation seeks to help victims in a variety of ways including counselling, advocacy and refuge accommodation for adults, children and pets. Glyn's goal is to establish shelters for those who are vulnerable and most in need.
Unconditional love means love without conditions: it has no demands, no limits, no requirements and no thoughts of reciprocation.
Hope is the optimistic attitude of the mind and heart. An expectation of positive outcomes, of events and circumstances in one’s life or the world around us.
To express true gratitude is to never forget that showing appreciation is not the words we utter, but how we live by them. Being thankful for what we have. When one works through gratitude great things are achieved.
The Foundation is always looking for donations to help Glyn continue the amazing work she is doing - you can visit the Foundation website for further details of how you can help or you can donate via GoFundMe
